  • NO registration fee

  • Applications must be submitted online, using the submission form on this website: www.hixaward.com

  • One artwork entry per person allowed, unless otherwise agreed upon at the gallery’s discretion.

  • No entries will be viewed after the deadline, unless otherwise agreed upon at the gallery’s discretion, if deadline is extended.

  • The organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage to artworks, caused either in transit to and from the gallery and secondary exhibition spaces, or during any period of storage, packing, or unpacking the exhibition in any period whilst the work is in the gallery’s keeping. 

  • Once registered for this competition, all artists agree that we HIX ART have the non-exclusive right to produce, one or more images of the Artwork and reproduce the Images (including on our website, social networking and other online pages and sites that mention or promote the Artwork and including but not exclusively HIX restaurant’s & HIX ART’s accessories such as, menus, furnishings, merchandise and equipment) Non-commission-able if used for previous suggested purposes.

  • Please acknowledge that HIX ART is a commercial Art Gallery. If you are selected for the shortlist, the gallery reserves the rights to sell your work during the exhibition of the shortlisted candidates. Sales will be based on agreement between the gallery and the artist. 




  • Applicants must be a current art student or within up to two years of graduating.

  • Students must be from foundation degree upwards.

  • A maximum of 5 images will be accepted per applicant of your chosen artwork.

  • The image(s) submitted must accurately portray the artwork being submitted.

  • The artworks submitted must be available for sale if chosen for shortlisted exhibition.

  • We recommend that THE ARTIST acquire their own insurance to cover the artwork’s liabilities, especially whilst transit and during show premises.

  • The artist accepts the conditions that all work submitted would be available for sale in the exhibition. The artist, and that of the organisers will take a commission of 50%.

  • If necessary artists must be available to install their work for the exhibition at HIX ART.

  • Finalist artists are responsible for storing and transporting their work between shortlisting and installation of the exhibition.

  • Once registered for this competition, all artists agree that we HIX ART have sole ownership of the artwork and must be available during but not exclusive to the HIX ART exhibition run.

  • All finalist artworks whether sold or not must be available for the entirety of the HIX Award 2020 and any secondary events related to it.




  • Artist will be notified by email if their artwork has been chosen for the shortlisting process.

  • Selected artworks must be available for the first stage of shortlisting during August 2020. Artists are responsible for supplying the artwork to the gallery for this process.

  • Artists are responsible for collecting chosen and/or un chosen artworks after shortlisting stage one. Artists will be notified if their artwork has been selected for the final exhibition via email.

  • The judging panel retains absolute discretion regarding decision making for purposes of the award.

  • The judging panel's decision is final, from short-listing stage to the chosen winner.



  • The prize money must go towards studio cost and producing a solo exhibition to be held at HIX ART before the next HIX Award exhibition commences.

  • The Cass art vouchers cannot be exchanged/substituted for monetary value.

  • The trip to HIX Townhouse we will be subject to availability and does not include travel costs.

  • Prizes will be awarded on the advice of the judging panel, with the exception of the solo exhibition; which will be decided at gallery’s discretion.

  • The HIX Award is a prestigious award that aims to showcase an emerging artist. There shall be no other prize after the exhibition or entitlement except the above award.




  • Notification of shortlisted artists will be notified by the e-mail the applicant has provided.




  • Minimum of 4 weeks notice  must be provided if the artist wishes to withdraw their submission from potential shortlisting. 



The HIX Award website, Restaurants Etc Ltd and material relating to information, products and services (or to third party information, products and services), is provided ‘as is’ without any representation or endorsement made and without warranty of any kind whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, security and accuracy.

We do not warrant that the functions contained in the material contained in this site will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that this site or the server that make it available are free of viruses or represent the full functionality, accuracy, reliability of the materials.

In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from use or loss of use of, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use of the HIX Award & Restaurants Etc Ltd website.


These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
